Shou Sugi Ban Media Centre

Especially built to house existing electonics in this alcove while manitaining the rich, deep texture of Douglas Fir, but shaded a little to blend in with the surroundings.

Milled & Ready
The kiln-dried lumber pieces have been machined to size & are ready to be finished
The Burn
Burning the outside of the wood chars the softwood between the grain deeper

The Char
The charred finish that remains after the burn
The Brush
The charred finish is removed with a stiff brush revealing a darkened shade & emphasized grain depth
The Stain
A custom mixed stain was chosen to help blend the unit with the nearby fireplace masonry
